How To Change Your Background On Steam

Aside from those options, you can also apply a new background to your profile. You can get new profile backgrounds from the Points Shop on the app.

How to add a profile background on Steam

If you want to add more designs to your profile on Steam, you can add a background for it. After buying a new background from the Points Shop, you can immediately display it on your profile.

You can add a profile background on Steam from your phone or computer. Check our tutorials below, and we’ll teach you how to do it from both.

On your computer:

1. Open the Steam desktop app and sign in to your account.
2. Click your profile name on the upper right corner of the app and select “View my profile” from the menu. Alternatively, hover your mouse pointer on your profile on the upper side of the app and select “Profile” from the menu.
   
   
3. Click the Edit Profile button on the right of your profile page.
   
   
4. Head to the Profile background tab.
   
   
5. Select the background you want to use for your profile and click the Save button to apply the changes.
   
   

You can only use one background for your profile at a time. If you want to find animated backgrounds, visit the Points Shop on Steam.

On your phone:

1. Open the Steam mobile app and sign in to your account.
2. Tap your profile icon on the upper right corner of the app.
   
   
3. Select the View profile from the menu.
   
   
4. Tap the Edit Profile button on your profile page.
   
   
5. Head to the Profile Background tab.
   
   
6. Select the background you want to use for your profile and tap Save.
   
   

Unfortunately, there’s no option to upload custom backgrounds on Steam. You can only get new backgrounds from the Points Shop on the app.
