Fans have been longing for an option to change their character’s clothes in a Pokémon game. Starting from Generation VI, this feature has finally been added to the games. Here’s how you can do it in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl.

The Generation IV remakes promises to be a true reimagining of the original games. It manages to capture what made the Sinnoh region experience so great while adding new features and quality of life improvements that made the later generations so much easier to play. One of the returning features from the newer games is the option to change your character’s outfit. While it isn’t available initially, you’ll be able to change your outfits just a few hours into the game.

Where can you change clothes?

The first thing you need to do to change outfits is to make it to Veilstone City. If you were to stick to the game’s campaign, this would be around the third gym so you atleast need to have cleared Oreburgh and Eterna before making your way to Veilstone. Veilstone City is one of the largest cities in any Pokémon game. 

It’s home to the Veilstone Department Store, where you can buy all sorts of useful items including Technical Machines, and the Veilstone Gym, home of Fighting type Pokémon specialists. It’s also where the Metronome Style Shop is located as well which is where you can buy and change your outfits.

There are a total of 9 outfits you can purchase and all of them are a little expensive.

• Pikachu Hoodie Style – 8,500
• Overalls Style  – 21,000
• Eevee Jacket Style  – 98,000
• Gengar Jacket Style – 98,000
• Cyber Style  – 45,000
• Winter Style – 50,000
• Spring Style – 34,000
• Casual Style – 86,000
• Leather Jacket Style – 120,000

To change your clothes, simply talk to the clerk and select Change my style. Here, you can see all the outfits you own.

 Just select which one you like and voila. You have now changed your outfit! This is a pretty neat customization feature that adds to the overall immersion to the game. 

Platinum Style

Pokémon Platinum is the seminal Gen IV experience. It’s a critically acclaimed game that features a pretty iconic outfit for both of the characters. The cool thing is, you can actually have these outfits on Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. First, you must unlock the Mystery Gift option. From there, select the Receive from Internet option and you’ll automatically have the Platinum Style outfits in your wardrobe.
