They will use bad language, throw a couple of insults, and swear a lot. So, what you want to do is to make sure people like that don’t get to you. The best way to do it is to block out a couple of words. Now, the chat in Twitch is regularly monitored to make sure people are nice to each other.
However, it will take a while for Twitch to remove an insulting chat. Hate speech, bullying, and overall toxicity are normal online. Instead of waiting for Twitch to remove that chat, you can do it yourself. That’s where this guide comes in. We will show you how you can ban and blacklist words in Twitch. And the best thing is, the moment those blacklisted words are typed in the chat, they immediately disappear.
That’s right! You won’t even see them. This way, you will enjoy Twitch a lot more than before. You are in control. You can manage the chat without even lifting a finger. All you have to do is follow these simple steps and you will do it in no-time. Here is how.
Step 1
The first thing you should do is download a bot. Now, there are many available bots with the same attributes. But, we have selected one that is very easy to work with. For this guide, you will need the NightBot. Just follow the instructions and make sure that is installed on your computer.
Step 2
Open the NightBot. This is the window that you will see. The main screen of the bot. What you want to do is go to the left side of the screen, the left menu, and press “Spam Protection”.
Step 3
Go to “Blacklist Words/Phrases”. Select “Options” at the far right end of the screen.
Step 4
This is the block filter. Here you can type whichever words you want to block. When someone else types that exact word in Twitch, the bot will automatically remove it. For example, if you type the word “test”, anyone who types “test” will get their word flagged.
Now, if you type an asterisk (*) after that word, any word that contains the word “test” will get blocked. For example words like testimony, testing, testament, etc. In this filter, you can also check other features. But to block a word, you will have to type it in the blacklist.
Step 5
Now to test it out. Go back to your Twitch channel where you have activated the NightBot. Type in the chat the word you have blocked. See it get flagged immediately. As you can see, there will be no trace left of that exact word.
Conclusion
Blocking words on Twitch is a piece of cake. All you need is the proper bot and you will have the feature ready in a matter of minutes. Hopefully, you found this guide helpful.
