How To Block Apps On The Firestick

As a parent, you don’t want to allow your kids to use a certain app. And no matter how many times you try to uninstall this, your kids keep on reinstalling it. There is no use of restricting them especially if you are not home and you cannot supervise them. The good thing is that you can always have the option to block apps on your firestick. This means that you have the discretion to control what your kids can access. You only need to set up the TV Parental Controls in your firestick.

Here is how you can turn on the Parental Controls:

  1. Open your fire TV menu.
  2. Look for “Settings,” then select.
  1. Go to “Preferences.”
  2. Search and select “Parental Controls.”
  1. Set your PIN.

And that’s it, your “Parental Controls” is now enabled.

Here are the ways on how you can manage your “Parental Controls”:

PIN protect purchases

This will require you to tap your PIN every time you purchase from Amazon.

PIN protect app launches

This will require your PIN every time you open an installed app. Yes, you can still open the app in your fire stick even if you already blocked it, but you will be asked for a PIN before you can open it. Take note that this also includes games that are installed on your firestick.

PIN protect prime photos app

For you to be able to open the prime photos app, you will be required to enter your pin before you can open it. This app allows you to view photos and videos from your drive using your fire TV. Anyway, if you already enabled your “PIN Protect App Launches,” you no longer need to enable the “PIN Protect Prime Photos App” because the former already blocks all apps including Prime Photos.

Viewing restrictions

This feature allows you to block playback of TV shows and movies depending on their category. So that means that if a certain video is not suitable for your kids, then they cannot watch it without entering the PIN you had set.

Explicit filter for Amazon music

This feature allows you to block playback of songs containing explicit words. This only means that not only the lyrics of the songs are removed, but the playback of the song itself is also not played. To do this, you need to follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Amazon Music app.
  2. Go to “Settings.”
  3. Turn on “Explicit Filter.”

Anyway, enabling the TV Parental Controls also limits your purchases from Amazon. That means that your kids or other people cannot simply order from Amazon without your PIN.  This feature of the Amazon firestick is amazing as it is very useful for parents who wish to supervise their children even if they are away from home.

If your children just got your PIN, you can always change it anytime using your fire TV. Furthermore, from the moment you turned on the TV Parental Controls in your firestick, the “PIN Protect Purchases” and “Viewing Restrictions” are turned on by default.
