How To Beat Magnamalo In Monster Hunter Rise
Last Updated: January 5, 2022
Monster Hunter Rise’s PC release date is just around the corner and we’re here to bring you guides on how to beat certain monsters from the game. Starting with the very monster you see on the cover, the Magnamalo. Here’s everything you need to know about Monster Hunter Rise’s flagship monster.
Monster Hunter had a lot of iconic monsters in the franchise’s storied history. Ranking among the best is the fearsome Magnamalo. While most of the Monsters in Monster Hunter are pretty difficult to beat on their own, Magnamalo is a different beast entirely. It’s quick, agile, strong, and has access to a massive AoE hellfire blight that will send you flying if you get too close. Being Monster Hunter Rise’s flagship monster, you can bet that the Magnamalo is anything but easy. You’ll have to face this fearsome monster on your own on the game’s main storyline. While it can get frustrating if you’re new to the game, try to consider this as your rite of passage to being a seasoned hunter. Now, to beat the Magnamalo you have to know what its weaknesses are and where it’s weak points are located.
Magnamalo is one of the toughest fights you’ll face in the game. So you can just go out there swinging any weapon you fancy and hope that you’ll somehow knock it out. You need to come prepared to fight this monster just like any real hunter would. So the first thing you have to know is where to strike the Magnamalo and what it is weak to.
Bladed weapons and blunt weapons work equally well but it is slightly resistant to bullets from guns. It’s weak points are its Head, Armblade, Tailblade, and Tail. It’s worth noting that these parts can be broken and its Tailblade can actually be severed and carved separately for additional materials. It’s susceptible to Water and Lightning so it would be worthwhile to bring weapons of these elements. If you don’t have weapons of these elements yet, just bring a neutral weapon with the highest amount of raw damage. Magnamalo’s Hellfire also counts as Blast so try to use armor with resistance to this element.
Best Weapon to Use
Guns aren’t as effective on the Magnamalo but they do offer the highest amount of raw DPS (damage per second) in the game. If guns suit your playstyle better, then go for it. It might take you a little longer but it will eventually get the job done. Swords and blunt weapons will do the same amount of damage but we would give the slight edge to swords since you can cut off the Magnamalo’s Tailblade. At this point in the game’s story, you should have access to weapons from the Royal Ludroth tree which are excellent early game water weapons. We highly recommend the Drowning Shaft Long Sword to use against the Magnamalo since it has the Water element and deals decent damage.
- There’s a visual indicator you need to watch out for when Magnamalo is about to use its Hellfire attack. It will stay low while releasing purple gas around it which will detonate after a few seconds.
- Magnamalo will throw fireballs at you with its tail and will often try to stab you with it. This can deal a lot of damage and can even cause you to faint if you’re unprepared.
- Deodorants can be useful to remove Hellfire blight as well as using your wire bug to move.
- A good tactic when using melee weapons is to dodge towards Magnamalo when you see it lunging at you. This allows you to stay under it where it can’t directly hit you with any attacks.
