Google Slides is a very useful app we commonly use when making a presentation. It’s amazing how we can do so much with it such as picking our preferred theme among the ones offered, adding images and videos, and being able to add transitions and animations to our slides and content.
If your goal is to be able to build a creative presentation, you should know how to use the different features in Google Slides, especially applying transitions and animations. It’s actually fun exploring them and if you also want to add a bit of spice to what you’ll be creating, read more to learn about how to do it.
Adding Animation to Texts and Images
In Google Slides, you can add animation and transition to both the slides and content of your presentation. For this part, you’ll first learn about applying them to texts and images.
1. Click the text or image you want to animate.
The process works the same for both texts and images, so you’d easily be able to do it with ease. Yet before you can do so, make sure that you initially click the text you want to animate. In the example below, the text “Overview” is what’s selected.
2. Look for “Insert” in the Menu bar and select “Animation”.
The Insert button is on the left side of the menu bar. Once you click it, look for “Animation” and select afterward.
3. Adjust the speed and animation type on the pop-up that will show on the right side.
A pop-up bar will show on the righthand side of your screen after clicking the Animation option. There, you’ll be able to change or choose your desired animation type as well as its speed which could go from slow to fast.
Also, you can pick when to activate the animation, either on click, immediately after the previous slide, or with the previous slide.
You can still add another animation to the same object too if you click the “Add Animation” option and “Play” button to review the whole thing.
Adding a Slide Transition
To make your slides a lot more presentable, you can also add transitions to them the easiest way by following this step-by-step guide:
1. On the panel on the left side, choose the slide that you want to animate.
I’m sure you’re very much familiar with Google Slides and can easily locate the panel on the left side. Before applying transitions, be on the slide you want to animate.
2. Select “slide” on the menu bar and click the “transition” option.
On the right side of Format on the menu bar, click “Slide” and make sure to select the “Transition” option.
3. Choose the transition you desire and adjust as necessary.
After clicking the Transition option, a panel will appear on the right side of your screen. You can freely choose and explore the different transition types there until you achieve your preferred one.
Also, you can adjust the speed for every transition you add.
4. Click “Apply to all Slides” if you wish to add the transition on every slide.
Just below the bar for adjusting the transition speed is the “Apply to all Slides” option. Click it to enable.
Now if you simply want to check how everything looks, click the yellow button that says “Play” at the bottom of the panel.
