Tutorial

Aside from being a password manager, you can use LastPass for other things. You can use the app as secure storage for important files and information that you may need on your other devices or in the future.

One of the item types you can save in your LastPass vault is the “Secure note,” which allows you to save texts with attached files. With the help of this feature, you can store important documents, files, and reports securely on the app.

Here’s our guide about adding secure notes on LastPass.

How to save secure notes on LastPass

If you want to use LastPass as secure storage, you can store information and attachments on the app. LastPass encrypts all data you save on the app on its vault, so you can rest easy knowing that your files on the app are secure.

You can add notes on LastPass whether you’re using the web or mobile app. We’ll cover both app versions in our quick tutorials below.

On your computer:

  1. Open the LastPass website on your favorite browser and sign in to your account. Alternatively, click the LastPass browser extension and select “Vault” from the window that appears.
  2. Click the plus icon on the bottom right of the All items tab.

  3. Select “Secure Note” as the item type.

  4. Add the note’s name and folder, and fill up its contents. You can also attach files to accompany your new note.

  5. Click Save on the bottom right part of the window to confirm your decision.

That’s how you add a note from the LastPass website. If you ever change your mind, you can always delete the data you saved on the app whenever you want.

On your phone:

  1. Open the LastPass mobile app and sign in to your account.
  2. Tap the plus icon on the bottom right part of the app.

  3. Select “Secure note” from the menu.

  4. Fill up the contents of the notes and tap Save on the top right to save the new note to the vault.

You can enable the prompt password option to add more security to your notes. When you try to view the note on the app next time, you’ll need to enter your master password to continue.
