For example, if you recently joined a popular Discord channel, you are blown away by all the colors and underlines. People can type with bolded letters, italic, underlines, and strikethrough. They can even color their text. So, how in the world are they doing it?

For newcomers, learning the ropes can be a bit challenging. You’ve probably tried it your own way to see if it works. Maybe you typed “/italics hello everyone”. Of course, it may not surprise you, but it didn’t work.

If you have no clue what you are doing, you’ve come to the right place. We have prepared a very easy guide for you. And the goal of the guide is to teach you how you can write a text in Discord in italics. Doesn’t that sound awesome?

You will learn a very cool Discord formatting feature. One you will use all the time. If you are here, it means you have tried everything to figure it out, but it still doesn’t work. Well, don’t be disappointed! That happens to everyone.

Either way, we are here to help you out. We will show you how you can make your texts look cool. All you have to do is type exactly the same commands as us. See the screenshots for reference. Now, without further ado let’s get right to it.

Here is what you need to do to write text in Discord in italic.

Option 1

This is the first and basic option for making your text italic. What you need to do is type one asterisk at the beginning and the end of the text. The asterisk is the command for making the font italic. To do that press SHIFT+8. This is very easy to do. If you still can’t figure it out, check out the screenshot below.

Option 2

Now, this is the cooler version. Not only does it make your text italic, but it also adds bold to the text. To do this, you have to type in the command two asterisks at the beginning and two at the start. See the screenshot below.

As you’ve probably noticed, in our examples, we have used the word “italic”. Of course, you can type in anything you want. It can even be an entire sentence. In other words, it doesn’t have to be a single word. So, you do have plenty of space to play around with words. It’s a useful and convenient feature.

Conclusion

Learning the basics of the Discord formatting feature is a piece of cake. It is one of those commands you will love to use. Once you get the hang of it, you will use it every single time. It is that easy and it looks awesome.
