This is why the cell borders feature of Google Sheets is commonly used, as this improves the appearance of one’s spreadsheet. However, if you’re still unaware of this feature, then worry no more because the steps below will guide you through achieving it.
Adding Cell Borders
When you want to put boundaries and organize your cells, adding cell borders is crucial. It allows you to separate one section of a spreadsheet from another. Follow the steps outlined below to insert one.
1. Open the web browser then go to Google Sheets.
To begin, launch your web browser and navigate to Google Sheets. After that, make sure that you’re logged into your account. Go through all of your spreadsheets to determine which ones need to be modified.
2. Select the cells that you want to modify.
Select the cells in the spreadsheet to which you want to add a border. If you’ve picked the correct cells, you should see a blue outline around them.

3. Click the borders icon on the sheets toolbar.
Click the borders icon on the toolbar if the cells to be edited are already highlighted. A small options window will appear when you click this, displaying all of the available border types.

4. Select what type of border you want to apply to the selected cells.
Choose from the available border types and click the ones you think are appropriate for your sheet and the cells you’ve chosen. When you click a specific type of border, the appearance of the borders in your sheet changes immediately.

5. The border should have appeared on your sheet.
Return to your sheet to see the new cell border appear.

Editing the Cell Borders
If you want to change the appearance of the borders you’ve just added, follow the two steps outlined below. Keep in mind that you can only change the color and style of the borders.
1. Select the drop-down arrow beside the “border color” icon.
You must first click the borders icon in the toolbar, after which you will notice two different icons on the right side of the border types. To change the border color, click the drop-down arrow next to the first icon, which will display all of the available colors for your borders. All you have to do is select the color you want, and it will appear in your sheet automatically.

2. Click the next drop-down arrow below the border color section to edit the border style.
If you want to change the border style, click the second icon. There are six different options to choose from; simply click the one you want to apply to your borders.
