Disabling Hover Actions In Gmail

Gmail offers a whole new level of convenience to the point that you can easily access its features as they are already laid out in front of you. One primary example is its hover actions, where you can effortlessly delete, archive, snooze, and mark as unread a certain email.

However, there are times when buttons hovering around can be a tad distracting. Nonetheless, thanks to Gmail’s built-in settings, you can disable them with just a few clicks!

1. Go to Gmail and sign in to your account.

Go to your web browser and then to Gmail. Sign in to the account for which you want to change the hover actions.

2. Click the gear icon on the top-right side of the page.

After you log in, you’ll notice a gear icon on the top-right side of the page, next to your profile and the multi-dotted icon. When you click the gear icon, a drop-down menu will appear on your screen.

3. Choose “See all settings” from the drop-down menu.

The drop-down menu will only show you the basic settings that you can change, but because hover actions are not considered a basic setting, you will only see it if you click the “See all settings” button. By clicking this button, Gmail will take you to a new window.

4. Select the “General” tab then go to the “Hover actions” section.

There are several tabs in the new window where you can make changes, but in this case, you must go to the “General” tab and scroll down until you see the section of hover actions, which is roughly on the sixth spot.

5. Mark the circle beside the label “Disable hover actions.”

The “Hover actions” section will give you two options: disable or enable the hover actions in Gmail. To disable this, click the circle next to the label “Disable hover actions.” The circle should be filled if you have successfully disabled it.

Just a quick reminder that if you enable this feature, you will have immediate access to the archive, delete, mark as read, and snooze controls on hover.

6. Click the “Save Changes” button to apply the changes.

Exiting the settings window right away will not save the changes you made. To apply these changes, scroll down the page until you see the “Save Changes” button, which you must click.

Remember that editing this feature of Gmail applies to your account, so your hover actions will change whether you sign in to your account from any computer.

Summing-Up

There are various ways to attain convenience with Gmail, and there are also a lot of means for you to make yourself more comfortable with the space you’re working in. All you have to do is explore its features, and then you’ll be able to work yourself through it.
