Can Firestick Connect To 5g

Amazon’s Firestick is a device focused on video streaming services. You can use it to watch Netflix, HBO Go, news, and YouTube. But there are some apps and games that make it a great tool to have around. In fewer words, the Firestick allows you to transform any TV into a smart TV. Obviously, it has to have an HDMI input, or you won’t be able to plug the device in.

Step 1

The first thing you should do is change the SSID of both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. The names must be different; your firestick won’t be able to differentiate either network otherwise.

Depending on your router the settings page could be different. But the options should be similar. Be sure to change your 5GHz network channel to 36-48 or 149-165. Save everything before you exit the page.

Turn on your TV and go to the settings option on your firestick device; click on it.

Swing with your remote controller to the network option and select it.

Once inside, choose your Wi-Fi, which is under the SSID name that you gave to the 5 GHz network in step 1.

If your network isn’t there, try to reboot the Wi-Fi router. If this doesn’t solve your problem, or the network is hidden, click on the Join other network option. It is usually at the end of the menu.

Step 6

Here you have to manually type both the network name and password. Hit enter and your Firestick should connect to the network and it is ready to be used.

As you see is a quite simple and straightforward process. Of course, you have to be sure that all your devices are properly connected. This includes your router device and the Firestick; check everything before and after doing this process. 

According to Amazon, all generations of the Firestick can connect to 5 GHz networks. So there should not be a problem to connect it. Although, you should consider resetting the router if you can’t connect to the network. If after doing this, you still can’t connect to the network contact, your service provider; they should be able to help you. Additionally, try to forget all the networks saved on the Firestick device and rescan for networks again.
