Adding A Location To Uploaded Images In Your Google Photos
Last Updated: September 29, 2021
Keeping thousands of pictures in your library may be one of the things we commonly do. Yet, if you want to have a better way of saving memories on your device—either on Google Photos or iCloud memory—a great solution would be to add a location to your photos.
That will help you remember not only the date it was taken but where that image was captured. Also, you’ll be having a more exciting way of reminiscing or looking back to your past events when scrolling from one photo to another.
If you want to know more about how adding a location is done in Google Photos, this article can truly help you with that.
Adding a Location to Your Google Photos Via a Mobile Device
If you have a Google Photos app on your phone and wish for a specific photo to have an identified location, here’s a quick and easy method you can follow to do so using your mobile device.
1. Open Google Photos on your phone then sign in to your Google account.
First, you must launch the Google Photos application on your mobile device, then sign in to your account using your Google credentials.
2. Choose a photo to which you want to add a location.
Opening the app will display all of the photos in your account, which leads you to the second step: selecting the one you prefer to have an identified location. By clicking on the image, you can see it in a larger frame on your screen.
3. Click on the three horizontally-stacked dots on the top-right corner of the screen.
Click on the ellipsis located in the top-right corner of the selected image, and wait for an information bar to appear at the bottom of the screen.

4. Select “Add a Location” from the provided options.
After that, you’ll see two options in the information bar — “add a location” and “edit the date and time.” To be able to add a location to your chosen image, you must select the former.

5. Input the location from where the photo was taken.
On the space provided, enter the location you’d like to connect with the image you selected.

Adding a Location Using The Web Browser
When you don’t want to download the Google Photos app on your phone to add a location to a specific image, you can simply type in photos.google.com on your website and follow the steps below. Some of these steps are similar to the process above, but there would be minimal changes.
1. Click on the photo that you want to add a location to.
Search through all of the photos in your Google Photos account and select the one you want to have an identified location.
2. Select information icon on the top part of the photo.
After choosing a photo, it will appear on your screen with a larger frame and a menu bar on top. Select the information icon from the menu bar, and a panel will appear.

3. In the right panel, click on the “Add a Location” button.
The panel from the information icon will appear on the right side of the screen. At the bottom of this panel, you’ll see the “Add a Location” button, which you must click to bring up a pop-up window.

4. Input the location where the photo was taken.
A pop-up window will appear, asking for the photo’s location. After entering the location in the space provided, it will automatically be saved.
